Post-Study Work Visa Duration & Rules

  • After graduation, students can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT):
     
  • 12 months for most degrees
     
  • Additional 24-month STEM extension for eligible programs (e.g., CS, Engineering)
     
  • During OPT, students can work full-time in their field of study.
     
  • Long-term work opportunities are available through the H-1B visa, a company-sponsored visa valid for up to 6 years (lottery-based selection process).
     
  • Some students may transition to permanent residency (Green Card) through employment.
